Before he moved to Riverside, Blackie's store was in ...

Sorry to hear about Bruce's passing. I met him a few years ago at the Phoenix show...we hung out a bit.
Cool guy...sorry I didn't get to know him better..
Condolences to his friends & family.

I've played a couple gigs & sessions with Al, and almost always used a Risson amp...with no reverb.
Always sounded awesome.

Classic SoCal country rock solo.
FWIW, it was played on a ZB, and Ed had his steel set up Day.

A good friend, sorely missed...

I went to a 22W on all my steels when I switched from lowering 6 a whole step to raising 7 a whole step.
No complaints...I like the way it feels and sounds.

As a side note...
John Macy owns that guitar now. It was at Jim Palenscar's shop a while ago, and we all had a chance to play it a bit. Even with the deadest of strings it still had that Emmons tone. ...

Very nice...well done.
I agree, Tom's tone was best on his ZBs. He used a Mullen when we cut Sara Evans' "Three Chords And The Truth" LP, and his tone there was very close to the ZB...but ...

I switched to a wound 6th when I swapped the 6th lower for a 7th raise - whole tone.
I also think it sounds better, and I like the 7th raise more than the 6th lower.

I'm with Mike on this.
I would never consider doing that to my '74 fatback...no matter how heavy it is.
Personally, I'd just look around for a Loafer, or a S10.

The first session I took it to, th ...
