I've used a V8 without black box with great results though I'm using a buffered telonics volume pedal! I even own a black box and fine without using it with the V8. Amazing sound from V8! | |

You also might check what taper number you have it set at. 6,7,8 and 9 have extra gain in them which theoretically can clip some amp's input. Maybe use 1-5 as a choice taper and see if that helps! | |
