I have a set of these. Have not done exactly what you are attempting but they work for similar operations. You can apply a lot of pressure without marking stock.

I built a small 'sidekick' box on the side of my seat and the lid opens flat to hold 3 pedals. I can also stash stuff inside. I also have a battery led light velcrowed inside for nights.
