I have yet to find a source for the postwar ivory 481 knobs, the the brown prewar (and postwar KEH) 481 knobs are readily available -- but they're quite spendy. PM for more info.

If you wanted to, you could consider the common 6-string C6 tuning (lo to hi: C-E-G-A-C-E) or 8-string tuning (lo to hi: A-C-E-G-A-C-E-G) to be Am7. Same notes; same intervals.

Unless you really have to, I wouldn't clip anything to the steel. It looks tacky. My $.02
