If you would like to try a dark, smokey, jazzy tuning.....try Am11.....easy to retune from G dobro tuning.......L>H ACEGBD......

Why do single 8s often go for the same (or more) than double or triples?

There were fewer of them made and rather rare.....the double and single Deluxe 6s are even more rare......
