Depends on the condition of the pot. On my old AB pot the carbon on the wiper was worn down to the metal:

I played Jimmy's guitar at his house/shop for about 10 minutes. Back then I didn't know enough to evaluate the setup. What really struck me though was how smooth and easy the knee levers actuated.
