Beginner question? why is there not two different pickups on Steel guitar.? is there just so much stuff available they are not wanted or would add nothing to the instrument?

Found a Peavey Bandit 112 in good condition. But it has no earphone jack.Is it worth the effort to have one installed if you can install one in the amp?
